The University of Montevallo, founded in 1896, offers students from throughout the state and region an educational experience of high quality, with a strong emphasis on undergraduate liberal studies. Located in the town of Montevallo, 35 miles south of Birmingham, the University is spread out across a 160-acre main campus, surrounded by lawns, groves, and flower beds.

- Each year, UM enrolls about 550 freshmen from throughout the Southeast. The average ACT composite score for entering freshmen is 23.
- Almost 70 percent of freshmen said UM was their first collegiate choice.

The Admissions Office, located on the first floor of Palmer Hall, welcomes applications from those whose experience, interests and academic preparation indicate chances for success in the University’s programs of study. The Admissions staff reviews all undergraduate applications using a rolling-decision format, with applicants receiving notice of the admission decision soon after the file is completed. Prospective students may apply online, or they may request a printed application and other materials by contacting the office.
