Birmingham Southern College:
Birmingham-Southern College is the result of a merger of Southern University, founded in Greensboro, Ala., in 1856, with Birmingham College, opened in 1898 in Birmingham, Ala. These two institutions were consolidated on May 30, 1918, under the name of Birmingham-Southern College.

The Admission staff of Birmingham-Southern helps students who are planning for post-secondary education and are interested in learning more about BSC. Starting in the fall of every year, the college’s 10 admission counselors “hit the road” traveling to schools all over Alabama and its surrounding states,including Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, and Kentucky. Through open dialogue and support, the staff begins working with high school students, sometimes as early as their sophomore year, to educate them about the benefits of BSC.

Birmingham-Southern College offers a wide array of financial aid opportunities to help its students fund their college education. BSC awards an average of $13,000 in institutional aid to qualifying students.
